The patches don't bother me that much...better than leaving them incomplete, although the Stella on RoadTrips as you mentioned suffers from it.

I'm more impressed w/the overall richness of sound mastered from the Egypt shows overall. They did a good job selecting the best performances and weeding out the weaker stuff (the shows were very uneven), but what's left for sound quality is to my ears at least amazing and adds to the shows themselves...they sound better than I ever recall them being elsewhere...I really think that 9/16/78 run of OllinArageed>Fire>Iko>Shakedown is extraordinary!

Hey GC, I completely agree about the richness of the sound from Egypt. I think that was from a 24-track recording as opposed to the 2-track soundboard from Road Trips. I also agree they picked the best stuff, which is basically the 9-16 show. If you take away the bonus disc I think only 3 of the tracks are from 9-15. Although I like the Eyes from 9-15 on the bonus disc. It has a unique sound, almost a country vibe.

I had no problems with the patch either, i just knew that Rasta was really looking forward to hearing a pristine version of that Stella.

no shit???? That's why I ordered it!
Well, it's probably better than the Matrix that's here, + the bonus disk. When it goes from SB to Aud, a letdown. On that Stella, I perfer the straight MOTB, too much of a change imo.
Jeeze! What the hell was Bear doing that night??

If I had to guess it probably had something to do with a substance that starts with "h" and ends with "h" with a "sheesh" in the middle ;-)

I mean, when in Rome...or Egypt in this case....

I agree about the sound. Good stuff to tile to... now if I just had time to get the little details of grout cleaned out and get my shower back...

I want more time to give them a listen, but so far Grendle's assessment of picking the stronger stuff from the spotty performances and doing a mightyfine job with it makes me glad I got it.

I'll see how long it takes before a salsa stain mars the first GD T shirt I've bought in about 20 years...
